• Day 6 summer in our motorhome

    Tuesday May 04, 2010

Today, we pulled out of Sunny Sands, drove into a rainstorm but finally reached New Port Campground, New Port, FL. The camp ground had no electricity from the storm, and of course no wifi either! Oh well, it’s back to using my Broadband2Go air card! Thankfully, I’m still in touch with the world, although somehow,I treasure the moments without it!

Fat cat had a good day! He stayed nailed to the motorhome floor and slept most of the trip. Not a care in the world. Could it have something to do with the CatNip?

We walked around the campground and it’s a nice place, small, but lots of wildlife to see. There is a walkway from the campground to St.Marks river and the fog drifting along the river was picture perfect. We could hear the frogs all around us, the squirrels have certainly entertained fat cat!

Next stop, Kolomoki State Park in Georgia! Stay tuned…

  • Lake Louisa State Park – Fla.

Lake Louisa is a fairly new state park ca. 1997 or so located in the former citrus-growing area near Clermont in Central Florida.  As such it’s rather barren; no shade trees here.

Freezes in the ’80s and ’90s along with citrus canker killed all the orange trees, followed by developers who snapped up the land for retirement and bedroom communities to Orlando.   Previously citrus trees stretched as far as the eye could see from the Citrus Tower in Clermont; now it’s all rooftops.

The state purchased 4500 acres from the Bronson family for the new park.

We saw quite a few bicyclists taking advantage of the miles of paved roads in the park, plus there are several lakes offering canoeing and fishing.

Here we are tucked into Site #1, close to the bath house but not too close.

  • The thought process behind our thinking!

By now, my guess is that some of our readers are wondering… What in the world is the thought process behind their thinking!!! The truth of the matter is, is that we are in our mid-fifties and retired! But, what is one to do? Plenty! But, we didn’t want to fall in to the routine of many RV’r friends we know, who seem to always follow the norm! We just had to be a little different because, it’s more about the adventure than the destination!

In this journey of ours, every mile is a memory. It’s all about experiencing life to the fullest. Some would say it is to slow down and smell the roses, absolutely! That is exactly what we are doing. Most folks challenge themselves to see how many miles they can put behind them before their next stop. It’s about how many hours we can put between us and the next time we are on the road again. To slow down, enjoy each day, appreciate the little things taken for granted that surround us.

Not so long ago, we spent 8 days in the Everglades in Florida! Total disconnect from the outside world. Once you separate yourself from daily routines, you get gladed. That is a new term for me but It is so true. Being gladed is when you finally realize how wonderful it is to slow everything down around you. It’s almost like imagining a humming bird in slow motion! You start to see life that exists in a whole new world within your own.
