Getting ready to go has been…well, interesting.
DW had a moment the other day when she realized that we’re pulling out in three weeks, that there are only three weeks to get ready.
We’ll, since we’re always ready to go somewhere, how much getting ready can be done? Got some mechanical work done, got a new battery to replace the Neverstart, slopped some paint on here and there and we’re good to go.
We’re finding that getting the house ready to close up for about three months is much more work. After all, who wants to come home to squalor? So we’re scrubbing and cleaning. Once every year or two whether it needs it or not.
To complicate things, we have company coming next week, so the three-week scrubbing and cleaning has become a three-day scrubbing and cleaning project. And that’s the last time we scrubbed and cleaned, when we had company coming.
“Company” is distinct from our normal everyday buds who simply move the clutter aside and sit down.
So we’re 20 days from the great departure date and Miss Lueffie is waiting impatiently while we clean up the house. Perhaps the “company” will quickly become normal everyday buds and we can relax.
Why didn’t we arrange to go to their house?
They probably didn’t want to have to clean it up!
