• Still waiting…

The mechanic had to replace a part. Then found he needed a part for the part. Then found he needed a part to connect the two parts, and the part to connect the two parts had to be ordered from parts unknown.

Once those parts are installed, he can run the engine long enough to determine whether or not he’ll need to replace another part. If so, that part will also have to be ordered from parts unknown.

Sounds like we’ll have Miss Lueffie back in good working order about mid-2011. Of course by then some other part will have rusted out and fallen off…

  • Still waiting….

Still waiting on the mechanic to finish. Grrr…

While sitting around, we’ve done some further planning of a trip in May; up to north Georgia, on to Bryson City NC, then blasting southeast to come out around Murrel’s Inlet, SC, then coastwise and on home.

With our current plan it’ll take us five days to get to north Georgia!

    I’m not a slow driver and I’m not a fast driver. I’m a half….

  • Waiting….

Miss Lueffie’s in the shop getting a new carburetor, a new muffler and to try to fix the common Ford Econoline instrument panel failure.

The mechanic had some trouble just finding a carburetor; apparently he couldn’t find a rebuild kit. He said that the parts house people look at him like he’s some kind of dimwit asking about parts for a 22-year-old carburetor.

The hard part for us is the waiting. Not that we were planning to go anywhere right now; we just sit around talking about all the maintenance and upgrades we could be doing. The fact that we sat around on our fat butts last week and didn’t do anything is beside the point. <g>
