• Our kitchen b4 and after

Below is a pic of our RV kitchen when we first bought it last year. The next one is after the recent changes. The old 1988 Yellowstone Class C’s had a very dull color combination on the wooden cabinets and walls, that will soon change. With a few brighter colors, it already looks better. I removed the box frame from the top of the window and shades and replaced it with a simple white and lace small curtain. It already looks brighter, modern and more spacious. We will be replacing all the old dull yellow light fixtures above the sink and on the ceilings with new brighter white LED lights and repainting the ceilings white.

The bedroom and living room have already had the old box frames removed from the tops of each window, and shades. Replacing that with a simple curtain rod that is flush with the walls, the room already looks and feels larger. Brighter and more like home with matching curtains throughout. The bar area has a hide away table, when placed back inside the bar, new set covers and drapes, a little paint and wow!

The overhead is now used for storage, we just took out the bed up there which was nothing more than a 4 in sponge mattress, and reinforced the floor below the bed so it’s much stronger now and we’ll use that area as storage! We thought about putting a TV up there like the new RV’s but we needed storage space more. Besides, using a flat screen TV, you save space on the counter. Next big job is to repair the bed because now we know why it sags in the middle! It has a 1/4 in plywood under there! We discovered the boards supporting the bed were thin and simply snapped! Here I was thinking we were going to have to replace a 23 year old mattress… LoL’s We’ll just repair the boards and add that new 4in. memory foam mattress on top of the old one and wow, it’s sure gonna sleep good then. Finally…

  • More improvements for Miss Lueffie!

Ok, here we go! A brand new 4in memory foam mattress to compliment the pre-existing tired one! A magazine rack in the bathroom, of course. A Honda 2000 generator, woohoo! A complete set of RV throw rugs that won’t slip and slide on the carpet, finally. Lots of little gizmos’s too! See, I knew we’d go overboard at Camping World! That place has everything you can think of or imagine for comfort and ease while traveling on the road. These new changes were brought about from the last time we traveled for over 7 months and newbies we were. But, we learned a lot on how to make things better for the time we spend on the road. Now that Miss Lueffie is sort of independent, we can camp just about anywhere. Most importantly, it’s about having a plan B! You just never know what you may end up needing or wish you didn’t bring along until you’ve been there, done that. I can certainly understand the old saying, it’s not about the destination. it’s about the journey. That’s what full timing it is all about. Until next time…

  • Cherry Pocket Fish Camp

And now for something completely different…

I’d heard long ago that the restaurant at Cherry Pocket had some great food but never got around to going there before moving from the area. Lately, while googling around, I came across their website and discovered they have full-hookup RV sites, so a short dining and camping trip was in order.

Cherry Pocket is a Florida fish camp in the full sense of the term.  It’s not neat and tidy, has no manicured lawn, has no particular amenities; it does have old-Florida charm and some mighty nice friendly people.

At first glance the Kountry Klub entrance doesn’t seem so spiffy but that’s just appearance; the restaurant/bar is pretty nice inside. Not upscale but properly clean and decorated.

A small community has grown at Cherry Pocket. There are elderly travel trailers that have screen porches and other rooms grown up around them and there are newish park models. The community is nestled along a small indentation in Lake Pierce.

The story is that the land was owned by a man named Cherry and he said it looked like a pocket.

There are only a few transient RV sites; two or three near the lake and I believe a couple more off to the side.

Did I mention food? We went for dinner Tuesday evening and it turned out the be the all-you-can-eat catfish night and I definitely did my part in keeping the catfish population down. The next night we had fried shrimp and oysters, all very good.
