• Day 13 summer in our motorhome

    Tuesday May 11, 2010

What a beautiful cold morning it is! After a very hot weather in Florida, this is really a nice change. I have a lot of miles of hiking ahead of me but not till it warms up a bit! It’s 7:15 am and 59 degree’s outside! Think I’ll have a cup of coffee.

We’ve settled in now, got Miss Lueffie level as much as we could! Grills setup, canopy out with canopy rug, chairs etc.! It finally warmed up some later on in the day and we spent it enjoying natures wonderful sounds. Photos will be up soon, we have tons to go through!

  • Day 12 summer in our motorhome

    Monday May 10, 2010

Up at 6:45am! That is sooo not me. But, I’m excited about today to say the least. We’ll be unhooking everything and getting Miss Lueffie ready for the road. It’s off to Tennessee and leaving the great state of Georgia. But, first things first! Coffee….

Well, fat cat made us laugh so much last night, it was hard to fall asleep. At one point, he wanted to jump into the loft but made a misjudgment. The cushion fell as he was leaping upward and he was simply dangling in mid-air from the loft. Front paws barely hanging on! Scrambling to hang on all the while trying to pull his fat butt upwards was a task you just knew he’d fail at! I finally put my hands under his backside and gave him a little boost! Once I got over laughing hysterically, I noticed him pouting a little. Guess I shouldn’t laughed. But, it didn’t stop there! Once we laid down, he jumps up into bed on my side and slowly edges his way to crawl over my face. Well, I was not about to let that happen
so I simply raised my hand to block his way. My hand in the dark scared him so bad he backed up in a tizzy! Lay as flat as he could, not making a sound or movement, and his ears stood straight up. He settled down and went to sleep!

We left the park at 9:30am and left Georgia behind us, I was not really thinking that the farther North we went, the colder it would be! I figured that it was a passing thing. LoL’s 6 hours later, after two Walmart’s and several gas station and a restaurant, we pulled into our campsite in the mountains of Tennessee during the rain and cold winds and settled in. Instead of Dorothy, you’re not in Kansas anymore, it’s I’m not in Florida anymore! I am now adjusting to the cooler weather.

  • Day 11 summer in our motorhome

    Sunday May 09,2010

We discovered that it’s cold in the mountains in May for northern Georgia! It was a chilling 53 degree’s this morning in the motorhome. Last night we left all the windows open to enjoy the mountain fresh air. We didn’t have Internet access so we had no idea about the weather. We do own a weather radio but it never occured to us to listen to it, not once did we think it would get that cold. LoL’s, Floridians are just that way!

Today, we walked all around the campground and down to the lake. We got some great photos of the wild life and of the park. If you ever want to stay at this campground, think twice if you are traveling in a large motorhome or pulling a large RV! The roads leading into the camp area are one way in and out. But, the roads are so narrow and steep that you simply don’t get that feel good feeling! Other than that, it’s a great place to camp. The camp grounds are gorgeous and fully shaded as are all of the Georgia State Parks that we’ve camped at so far.

Well, it seems that fat cat has discovered a new room for himself! He’s chosen the overhead space. Since we don’t use that area for sleeping and have removed the bed, it’s perfect for him. He’s managed to jump from the seat by the table to the back of the drivers seat and then op into the loft as we call it. I had a brilliant idea today, don’t know if it will work but it’s worth a try! I figured that when we arrive to our destination, we’ll be there a couple of months so why not convert the loft to a fat cat room! It’s carpeted, has a window on each side, perfect for his covered kitty litter box with the fancy charcoal filter for odor, food bowl, toys and such. He’s happier there and not under foot! lol’s

Since it’s our last night here, we’re getting Miss Lueffie road ready so we can leave bright and early tomorrow morning! Our tailgate grill is attached, everything is put away and all we have to do in the morning is unhook the electric and water, remove our cover from the windshield, put the harness on fat cat, visit the dump station and then rock and roll!
